I've been away, bartering health for pneumonia and vice versa

But I'm back - and interested in any ideas for trading for better living. I'm going to order a few business cards with my contact info and a signature line "will trade work for adventure". Should be fun.

inequity

For tax purposes, bartering is about equitable trade of one thing for another... but for life purposes perhaps it's not really about the money value. To me at least it seems at least as much about the value of building connections that transcend the value of tit-for-tat, and if you're part of a thriving community, perhaps you already have that. But what if you don't? Or what if "outsiders" threaten that balance? I actually think engaging "others" in a literal trade economy offers the…See More

Organization to organization

Barter is a useful currency among nonprofit organizations - assuming your organization is not competing with other organizations for the same resources, there can be some good opportunities for sharing skills and learning from one another.See http://www.nonprofitperspective.com/2008/08/nonprofit-startups-and-the-power-of-bartering/.Bartering is also used similarly in the for-profit world as…See More

So I'd love to hear more about what more it takes... we started just a tidbit of conversation on that a couple weeks ago. What can I trade you for more insight into what REALLY works? This is going to be a week for applied creativity.

One of the many

www.itex.com is a nationwide community of small businesses trading for what their businesses need and their families want...without spending cash. I haven't used it, but there are a couple locations in Washington state to check out. cheers.
